I'm going away and never going back, uh comming...back. yeah, Okay i confess i will stay here untill someone comments on the ( below) story. i will be posting it one chapter at a time starting with,

Nathalie fracture fairy tale.

By Synthea Paarup

One glorious morning the old queen Nathalie sat alone in her tower braiding her long hair, crying softly, when suddenly a great flapping of wings caused her to look up. Five birds, all different, flew into her tower room, one, a dove, landed on her knee. The others: A golden eagle, a white swan, a love bird and a great snowy owl perched upon other places in the room.

Nathalie heard a rather soft “Ahem” sound and she looked down at the dove, surprise on her face.

“Did you say something?”

“Why no dear Queen I did not, I ahemed,” The dove seemed to smile “but now I am going to say something. My name dear Queen, my name is Truth I am the third child of King Hashua, Protector of your world. My brothers, sister and I have been cursed a dreadful curse.” At the mention of his siblings the dove looked around the room at the other birds.

“We have been cursed to forever be birds by day, but ourselves by night. There is only one way to reverse the curse. We, each of us, must find our own true love, only then can we regain our human form by day and night.”

“Truth, what can I, an old woman do to help you young lively birds er...youths?”

The old queen had such a look of sorrow upon her face.

“Are you not, dear queen, ruler of this land, and do you not know every corner of it?” the dove Spread his wings as if to encompass the whole world (though his wings were very small.)

“Oh dove, I was once ruler of this land, but an evil witch came and stole all my children and exiled me in this tower. She cursed each of my children. My eldest Repunzle is locked in a tower like mine, but it is guarded by the Solicitor of doom, no man can out think his cunning lies. Every young prince who has tried to rescue my Repunzle has been cast into Prison for hideous crimes that can only be lies created by the solicitor. No man is pure enough or just enough to win against him.”

“My Eldest boy was cursed to forever be Ugly, a hideous beast he is. He locked himself in his castle and has not come out since.”

“My other daughter beautiful, pale snow white, was poisoned by a Cherry, she sleeps now in a glass casket hidden deep in a mountain. She is guarded by seven lying dwarves; they sit at the opening to the mountain, waiting to lead any Young man astray in his search for my daughter.”

“My Youngest daughter Aurora was cursed to forever sleep, watched by the three fairies: Choice, Cause, and Effect.”

“And lastly my youngest child Kay was taken by the evil witch and was told to solve her ice puzzles, until his own heart turned to ice. He would not recognise me if I stood before him and called his name. Now I am to sad to ever leave this tower again.”

The old queen began to weep.

“Dear queen, if we help you rescue your Children will you, in turn, help us find our True Loves?”

“ I will accept your help Dove and I will try to help you.”

Truth then began to introduce his siblings ( he being the only one able to talk.)

“The eldest is my Brother he is the eagle his name is justice, my elder sister is the Swan her name is Beauty, The love bird is my younger sister Charity, And the owl is the youngest His name is Wisdom.”

“Now dear queen we must fly you away from this tower before Nightfall, have you a Blanket we may carry you in?”

The queen held out her finger and truth stepped onto it.

“Yes Truth, I have many blankets.”

The queen was told to sit in the middle of a green blanket and truth instructed his siblings to grab the other corners with there Beaks, (or talons in Justice’s case) truth and charity shared a corner. Then the birds easily lifted the thin queen and her blanket off the floor and flew her out the window. They flew for some distance and the queen fell asleep.

When she awoke it was nearly nightfall and the birds had set her down. They had gathered food from the surrounding forest, and were preparing to eat it. Then suddenly the sun set and each bird took their human form.

The eagle Changed into a tall, handsome man, his shoulders square and chin held high, like that of any noble born King.

The swan began fluttering her wings and then those glorious wings transformed into flowing sleeves and golden hair. Beauty lived well up to her name, every part of her shone, even in the absence of the sun, and the queen was loathed to take her eyes from such radiance.

Next she noticed the love bird grow in size and become a Gay and Cheery maid, with rosy cheeks and high Brows, glowing with Love for every thing around her. Laughter floated around her and her eyes sparkled with Happiness.

then the snowy owl hooted one last time and Became Wisdom, with a high brow and Ageless eyes, he seemed to understand many things and made the Queen feel as if all her wisdom gathered in all her years was very little compared to his. He stood tall but not imposing, instead he seemed warm and open, ready to listen to you and hear your thoughts.

Lastly the queen looked upon the form that had once been the dove. Truth was handsome and boyish, but very sincere at the same time. He was pale skinned but dark haired with crystal blue eyes that saw through you and understood your thoughts.

“Come Dear queen and eat with us, we have brought all that is needed.” Justice’s deep strong voice beckoned kindly to her. They ate a lovely dinner of nuts, fruits, salads and fish. (Which justice had caught)

“We are near the base of Repunzle’s Tower. Now please tell us, Queen Nathalie, what do we do to rescue your daughter?” Justice looked at her, questions in his eyes.

“You must first approach the tower, then the solicitor will confront you and give you a problem which you must solve, if you solve it then he will allow you close enough to call to out my Repunzle.”

And so the company stood and approached the tower. They had not gotten within a hundred yards of it when a man richly dressed, in clothes of princes arose out of the shadows confronting them.

“Oh Mighty Travelers, you must solve my problem before you can approach that tower.” Beauty stepped forward.

“What sir is your problem?” she asked, her perfect brows raised.

“A man from my Village stole my brothers Sheep.” The solicitor Smiled

“What proof have you that this man did such a thing?” beauty remained cool.

“We have none beautiful lady, but we are sure it is him.” The solicitors smile widened.

“Let me show him to you.” Three more men stepped out from the shadows two of them were holding the third by the arms. The third man was utterly wretched, ugly and grubby looking. Beauty recoiled at the sight of him. Such a man, most defiantly would have stolen the sheep.

“Do you beautiful lady now see how we know he stole them?”

“Oh yes solicitor, I do the man is most surely Guilty.”

The solicitors form changed into that of the witch. She cackled shrilly.

“Wrong! Dear Lady this man is not guilty.” The three men vanished.

“Now you must pay for your folly!”

a great blast of wind threw them. Far the flew the wind carrying them back to the place were they had eaten dinner. They landed hard but all were relatively unharmed, except for Justice, who had hit his head on a rock and was blinded. Charity and Beauty sat by his side caring for and comforting him. Soon the sun rose in the sky and the youths became birds once again.

That night they returned to the tower charity and beauty leading Justice.

Once again they were approached by the solicitor/witch. This time the problem presented them was much different. Five men were standing before them.

The solicitor began.

“Three of these men are innocent, but two of them have committed crimes, of murder and robbery. First you must choose the Innocent men, and Devise a punishment for the other’s crimes. Who will judge justly?”

The five men seemed identical, but not in every way some wore nicer things and others wore old grubby things. Justice called out.

“It is nearly impossible to tell from the way a man looks if he is guilty. We do not know the facts of all the crimes and therefore cannot judge justly in this way. You however can tell us who is Innocent because you know. Your demand for us to do this is not just therefore we cannot justly judge them.” Justice never raised his head. His siblings stared at him in wonder.

“Young man you have given me the answer I was looking for.” Three of the men disappeared.

“Now tell me the ‘just’ Punishment for these men. One has stolen thirty head of cattle and the other has murdered their owner.” The solicitor smiled thinking he had cast his net wisely. Wisdom closed his eyes and touched Justice’s arm. Justice once again called out.

“the man who murdered, must be put to death. The man who stole the cattle must return seven times the amount of cattle or their worth to the murdered man’s wife and children.” Here the solicitor‘s smile faded for a moment.

“The man is not married.” His smile returned

“The payment must then be given to the closest living relative. And if the man did not have family of any kind, he payment must go to the poor.”

The solicitors smiled faded completely.

“ you have beat me, Sir you may now approach the tower, but may I ask your name.”

“M name is Justice.”
